Description :
The term “Bhagwan Shiva” in Sanskrit signifies prosperity or good fortune. Bhagwan Shiva is recognized as the peacemaker, always bringing tranquility to his devotees. As the destroyer of sins, he is easily pleased and known by various names, each carrying distinct meanings. He is a benevolent deity, eliminating evil forces. Shiva is revered in two forms: as Shankar, he takes on the ascetic form, and in the Kaliyuga, he is worshipped as a linga, symbolizing Parampurush in harmony with nature. The more unconventional Bhagwan Shiva’s appearance, the more captivating it becomes. Accompanied by the Trishul, Damru, Snake, Moon, Nandi (vehicle), ghosts, spirits, and vampires, he embodies various elements. Even his ganas (attendants) have unique characteristics, easily pleased and capable of fulfilling desires. Worshiping Bhagwan Shiva is simple, and by following a special ritual, devotees can overcome obstacles. Shiv-vaas is observed on the first day dedicated to Bhagwan Shiva. Performing puja on Shiv-vaas is considered highly beneficial. During the Shiva Puja, devotees begin with meditation on Lord Nyas, followed by Awahan, Aasan, Paadha, Ardhya, and Aachamanya snaan. The bath includes milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar, panchamrit, Ganges water, ashes, and cannabis (Bhang), with a stream of water offered to Bhagwan Shiva, as flowing water is particularly cherished by him. Prayers involve offering cloth, sandalwood, intact sesame seeds, flowers, vilvapatra, durva, various scented liquids, milk, lamp, naivedya, betel nut, clove, cardamom, fruit, dakshina, and pradakshina. Aarti is performed along with the offering of flowers, and devotees prostrate themselves in front of God, expressing sincere regret for any errors. The worship concludes by providing Dakshina, food, and clothing to Pandit ji. By following these rituals, the grace of Bhagwan Shiva remains ever-present.
